Despair can never have complete victory over the human spirit as long as there is hope. And if the longing for God is present, suffering cannot have the final word. This poem is dedicated to all the children in the world who are alone, and at the edge of despair…"Never give up hope, and keep your hearts open for signs of God’s love. You will sometimes find those signs in the simplest of things."

The Feather
Words and Reading: Carol Priour
Music: Jeff Hogan, Tony Young

God, I am looking for a feather
so I can begin to dream
about flying free...
something I can see
that I know is real . . .
something I can touch
that will help me find the place
where Your love lives,
somewhere still, inside of me
where I can hear Your tender message.

Just a little feather,
grey or black or brown, tiny or torn . . .
a feather that once was a part
of something higher, something holy . . .
now lost somewhere
blowing about in the wind.

I am looking for a feather, God,
so I can hold it like a treasure
in my weary hands,
honor it,
and return it to its holiness . . .
maybe then,
I could find my own holiness . . .
maybe then, I could find You . . .

Begin to dream about flying free,
flying free . . . and find you, God.
A feather blowing in the wind . . .
flying free.
