Ron, who also wrote the poem from which The Healing and The Higher Ground was derived, had the gift of seeing the spiritual nature of his life’s experiences and expressing what he saw in poetry. Reading the Bible constantly, 15-year-old Ron picked up many of his ideas and phrases there, as he did the phrase "many waters" from the Book of Revelation. This gospel rendition of his poem traces his own evolution from the hurt and anger of homelessness and isolation to his sense of being a part of something larger.

Many Waters
Vocal: Mike Cross
Words and Music: Ron, Douglas Balentine, Diana Jones, Tony Young

Once I was a raging river
driven by an angry wind.
The current called,
I couldn’t fight it,
I tried to run, it called again.

Chorus:
Many waters carry you and me
to our home out on the sea.
The winds were words
I had not spoken.

The winds were words I had not spoken
The currents were my hopes and fears
I tossed about till I discovered
the waters ran so deep and clear.

Chorus

I pray to God
for a calm and quiet stream
to touch my soul
and help me find my dreams.

Seasons change
and I change with them,
tides will come and they will go.
We will be with all creation,
if we give our hearts into the flow.

Chorus
