Cailloux
Elementary School
Cailloux
Charter School serves students in grades 1-7 at Hill Country Youth Ranch
(HCYR) in
Ingram, Texas. This school complex includes seven self-contained
classrooms, a student support learning center, and an adjacent assessment-counseling
center. A campus gymnasium,
cafeteria, athletic field, and agricultural barn complement the
classroom building. Each student has a thorough
individualized education assessment that is used to identify
learning levels, emotional dynamics, and behavioral problems that
may interfere with the learning process. The information is utilized by the specially trained and certified special education
teachers to develop effective teaching and social skills training
plans for the children.
Partnership with
psychologists, counselors, and child care professionals helps make
the education program for these young children the most effective
possible. The special education teachers have small classes, with 7 students or
fewer, with in-class instructional aides to insure that
all aspects of the child's education program is implemented. Specialized reading and math activities are
coordinated with volunteer mentors who give important
one-on-one attention. Internet based learning programs
are available to each student on computers in classrooms and in
the campus library. TEA certifies the
Cailloux
Charter School to provide education services at the
elementary and middle school levels. The vision of the
instructional program is to help each student overcome barriers to
learning and school success, experience the satisfaction of
learning, and increase grade level performance in academic areas to
best prepare for their future.
