Religious Education
The Christian message is at the heart of Ranch life,
and Christian guidance a
primary ingredient of our program. Learning to love one another
according to the instruction of the Master in John 15:12 is a task
needing constant work. For formal training, youths attend Sunday
services with their family units at the Meadows Chapel and
occasionally at one of the area's many churches. Christian learning
is fostered through informal sharing, at group gatherings, and by
example.
Because our children have been severely traumatized
by primary authority figures, and are often angry at all authority,
including God, we are intentionally low-key, looking for
opportunities to demonstrate, gently, that a
light shines in the darkness,
regardless of their previous experience. We know that it is
important for each person to take all next steps of learning in a
supportive atmosphere, and that sometimes it is the role of adults
to simply remain still while the light is dawning.
