"Jesus Wept" is a life size sculpture by Mike Scovel, commissioned and donated by Ken and Sandy Cailloux of Kerrville, in honor of Ken's parents. The clay original is shown at left. The bronze sculpture, right, was placed in April of 2000 in the Kathleen and Floyd Cailloux Meditation Garden at Big Springs Ranch for Children. In addition to providing a special place of solitude and meditation for residents of BSRC, the sculpture and surrounding garden is open to visits from the public. Contact us for more information about taking a tour that includes a visit to "Jesus Wept".

John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible, consisting of just two words: Jesus wept. Jesus cried because his closest friends had not fully perceived who he was and chose to remain in their sadness, even in His Presence. Above, a child at Big Springs Ranch gives Jesus a hug to comfort him. "We are the ones who hurt him," another said in reflection. |
