From the state Office of the First Lady Dear Gary: I am delighted to have the CD Broken Wings Can Fly. I hope to tour the Arts Center on a future visit in your area. I think of you often. Thank you for your loving work with children. With warm regards,
From Musicians Themselves Dear Gary: The album is so lovely. I'm honored and thrilled to have been a part of such a moving tribute. I'll be sure to mention the CD on my Web Page with hopes to help you attain more finances and recognition on behalf of the kids. Thanks again, (Ed: Sara Hickman, internationally renowned singer and songwriter from Austin, Texas, sings lead vocal on three of the album's songs. We were so grateful to Sara that she chose to participate in the project, and pleased that she like it. Sara has a new CD out and her work is easily found in CD stores.)
Dear Carol and Gary: I received the CD produced at the Youth Ranch. What a wonderful thing for these kids to have participated in such a creation. I certainly wish you all the best in helping it finds its way into the world. There has been a lot of grace in my songs finding their way into the world, and I trust that similar support will be present for your project. Warmly, (Ed: Shaina Noll is an internationally known singer/ songwriter from Santa Fe, NM) Dear Carol: Ive been listening to the wonderful CD. It is so beautiful. I love Sara Hickmans voice. It is so peaceful. The songs are very touching. There is nothing like the gift of music. Love, (Ed: Cary, an accomplished singer and member of local Christian praise teams for years, was also a houseparent at HCYR in the early 1980s.) From Friends and Supporters Dear Gary: Thanks so much for the gifts of music from the Childrens Music Project. It is powerful and beautiful music. In fact, we have shared the cassettes with each of our children because Phyllis and I believe that the spiritual and hope-filled content of the music is very uplifting. Sincerely yours, Bob Barker Dear Gary: What a delightful surprise it was to receive the latest release from the Childrens Music Project! Please extend my congratulations to these talented young artists on their extraordinary musical accomplishment Their CD now holds a special place in my music collection. Please know that The Meadows Foundation is proud to be a partner with the Hill Country Youth Ranch. Your organization offers a much needed and nurturing program for these deserving young people. Sincerely, Dear Gary and Carol: The CD is a great gift. I have shared it in my home with others and your ears should have burned because of the accolades in our conversation. Thank you. Sincerely, Dear Gary: What a beautiful recording! The love of our Lord and for one another comes shining through in areas that the Spirit has touched. HCYR has been such a blessing in giving faith, hope and love to all who come in need. I am sending a token in appreciation for you "just being there." My love, Dear Gary: I was most impressed and touched with the music and the thoughts that went into it . . . Jean Dunn Dear Gary: In each of the songs I can hear the hope youve given the children, for a new life in Jesus Christ, in spite of their troubled past. Its so exciting, and it was born out of love and patience and care poured out on them and total acceptance by you and your staff. What role models you are to these young people! . . . as they see you trusting in God in difficult times. God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand. All my love to you and Carol, |
From Friends and Supporters, cont. Dear Gary: The entire CD turned out great. I really enjoy all of the music. Molly Dear Gary and Carol: Words cannot express how moved we were by the music on the CD. Harry and I both cried at Dannys song. So many of the words and feelings are ours. Owen and I see it as our theme song. Owens favorite is Carols "The Feather". . .The CD brings you up, takes you down and then leaves you with such a feeling of hopefulness. Incredible great work. We think of you often. Love and Peace, (Ed: Kate and Harry own the Kent Mountain School in Estes Park, and have provided training and guide service on several wilderness adventures and mountain climbing expeditions with our youth in Colorado) Dear Gary: Were all so proud of what you are doing providing the kids with a home away from home. If we dont look out, help, and care for our youths today, were indeed looking for unsolvable solutions in years to come. Your music-recording program is but one way to show an alternative to roaming, hanging around, mugging at the least it will certainly lift the childrens spirit. Annemarie and Hans Schlunegger Dear Gary: The CD is lovely with its haunting lyrics and beautiful music. It certainly tells stories that need to be heard, that too long have been overlooked and hidden. Maybe out of the awful agony that the children have endured will come some good. Is this a perfect illustration of "All things (good and bad) working together for the good to those who love the Lord and allow their lives to be used according to His purpose?" (Romans 8:28). May God bless your continued efforts to serve Him and His little ones. Love always, Dear Gary: I took the liberty of sending a "Broken Wings" CD to Oprah Winfrey. Oprah needs to know that good things happen in Texas. I trust that you will receive a blessing from this. I know many people who have received a rich blessing from the CD and I know people in the community and the children continue to receive blessings and are blessed from this experience. Keep up the good work! Your friends in Christ's love, Dear Gary: The music CD was wonderful. As soon as I get my Christmas list together, I plan to order some of the CDs for gifts. Even though the songs talk of abuse and pain, I find the CD a message of hope because of all the letters I read from former residents of the Ranch in the Corral. Keep up the wonderful work. Elaine Osburn Dear Gary: You are all to be congratulated. The CD brought tears, "goose bumps" and smiles! We hope there will be more albums . . . God bless, Dear Gary and Carol: The CD is wonderful. There is a music style for everyones taste, and the words are hauntingly beautiful. Congratulations on a job well done! Louise Saunders Dear Gary and Carol: The music is beautiful and I know that you both are proud of what the children are doing with this new avenue to work with. Think of you and the Ranch often. Sincerely, Dear Gary: I want to thank you for the music disc. It is really wonderful, and the wife and I enjoy it so much. I am at a loss of words to express myself and my wife to thank you. Thank you, Dear Gary: Thank you so much for that CD. I plan to share it with others. I recognize some of the songs taken from poems that appeared in an anthology I received and which I found to be especially touching. Good luck in this endeavor. Sincerely, |
