Frio River provides wonderland for fun and adventure

Big Springs Ranch for Children stretches along 3 miles of the Frio River, 9 miles north of Leakey.  The name of the ranch derives from the fact that the headwaters of the Frio are located on the ranch, with waterfalls cascading into the canyons that form the Frio River valley.

The river is the jewel of the Ranch's natural environment, providing spots of awe-inspiring beauty as well as opportunities for recreation, including swimming, fishing and kayaking.

The ranch was given the name "Country of 1100 springs" during a 1970s video campaign whose footage was shot here.  It is truly a source of healing to just be near this natural wonder.
