The Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary
Of all the groups that have come forward to help, one stands out as the bedrock of the Ranch’s success.
In 1977, HCYR founder Gary Priour was working to establish the Youth Ranch. Wanting to assist, Marj Nicholson, community leader, suggested the formation of an Auxiliary. Membership reached 154 within a year. Throughout the decades, the HCYR Auxiliary has remained one of the Hill Country’s most successful and long-lasting fundraising organizations.
The Hill Country Youth Ranch Auxiliary is our most impactful supporter, providing care and resources to our youth. No one person does everything - there are opportunities and options for each unique person:
By attending monthly meetings, our members stay informed so that they can be ambassadors for the Ranches in our community.
Managing our volunteer-run thrift stores which supply funds for a large part of HCYR’s annual budget.
Organizing the Healing Hearts Celebration, a style show and luncheon fundraiser that has been running for the past 48 years.
Awarding college scholarships to our residents, alumni, and community children who attend our charter schools.
Making sure every child receives a personalized birthday cake and card to celebrate their life
Many other opportunities such as mentoring, tutoring, reading, sharing skills, sponsoring our children’s Christmas wishlist, and more.
If you want to join our mission to provide a safe, loving, life-enhancing Christian environment for children and young adults, this is a great opportunity to get involved and meet like-minded men and women in the beautiful Texas Hill Country!
Gary Priour, Founder of HCYR
“When it was formed, I did not know how vital this group would become. HCYR could never have been built without them. It would not be the same materially or spiritually.”
